Michael Avenatti, Stormy Daniels' Ex-Lawyer, Released to Halfway House
Michael Avenatti, the once-famous lawyer who represented adult film actress Stormy Daniels, has left prison. Federal records show he was moved to a residential reentry program in California.
These programs, often called halfway houses, help inmates transition back to society. Officials confirm Avenatti remains in federal custody during this process.
Avenatti gained national attention by suing former President Donald Trump on behalf of Daniels. His frequent television appearances made him a celebrity critic of Trump.
However, his legal career collapsed after he was convicted of multiple crimes. These included stealing book advances from Daniels and attempting to extort millions from Nike.
He was sentenced to 19 years in prison. The sentences for his separate convictions in New York and California are being served at the same time.
His release to the reentry facility indicates the final phase of his prison term has begun.
