Iran's "Nuclear Weapon" is the Strait of Hormuz, Says Russian Official
A senior Russian official has made a stark claim about Iran's military power. He stated that Iran has already successfully tested its "nuclear weapon"—control of a critical global oil route. Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian president and deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, made the statement. He was commenting on reports of a possible temporary truce between the United States and Iran. "It's not clear how the truce between Washington and Tehran will play out," Medvedev said. "But one thing is certain—Iran has tested its nuclear weapons." Medvedev did not refer to an atomic bomb. Instead, he defined the strategic Strait of Hormuz as Iran's equivalent. The narrow sea passage is a vital channel for about one-fifth of the world's traded oil. His remarks suggest that Iran's ability to threaten or close the strait gives it a level of global influence comparable to nuclear arms. The statement highlights how regional tensions are framed amid ongoing international diplomacy.
