**Bipartisan Threat: Lawmakers Vow to Force Ex-Attorney General Bondi to Testify on Epstein**
A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers is threatening to hold former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in contempt of Congress. They say she must testify in an investigation related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The House Oversight Committee is probing the handling of Epstein’s controversial plea deal from 2008. Epstein was a financier and convicted sex offender.
Lawmakers want Bondi to answer questions about her past communications with figures linked to Epstein. She was previously asked to appear voluntarily but has not agreed to do so.
“If Pam Bondi doesn’t testify, we will hold her in contempt,” said Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia. He leads the subcommittee conducting the investigation. Republican members of the panel support this position.
Holding someone in contempt is a formal act by Congress. It declares a person is obstructing its work and can lead to legal penalties.
Bondi has not yet publicly responded to the committee’s latest threat. The demand increases pressure on her to agree to a closed-door interview.
