Iran War Ends, Reveals New Global Power Balance
The direct conflict between Iran and the United States appears to have paused, if not ended. The fighting has created a new reality for global politics.
Iran suffered heavy losses. Its top leaders were killed. The country lost half of its missile and drone supplies and much of its military and civilian infrastructure. Thousands of Iranians, mostly combatants, were killed or injured.
The US military lost several aircraft, with more damaged by friendly fire than by enemy action. American casualties were relatively low.
Regardless of any final peace deal, analysts say the war has already reshaped the world order. The conflict demonstrated the severe costs of regional escalation. It also showed the limits of US military power to achieve lasting political change without massive commitment.
The result is a world where traditional alliances are being tested. New power centers are emerging, while the risk of future conflicts remains.
