Wang Fuk Owners Denied Meeting After Deadly Fire
The management company for Wang Fuk Court has refused a formal request from over 300 owners to hold a general meeting. The request followed a deadly fire at the Hong Kong residential complex in March.
In an email seen by the South China Morning Post, Hop On Management rejected the petition. It stated the request lacked information required by law. The company did not specify what information was missing or which laws applied.
However, Hop On Management said it will hold a briefing for residents in early May. The company administers the building under Hong Kong's building management ordinance.
Owners sought the meeting to discuss urgent safety issues and the recovery process. The rejection delays their ability to vote collectively on major decisions about the property.
