Hong Kong Bets on AI to Build a "Smart" Future
Hong Kong is pushing to turn artificial intelligence (AI) ideas into real-world solutions. The goal is to make daily life and business more efficient. This effort is a key part of the city's long-term smart city plan. It also strengthens Hong Kong's role in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The GBA is a major Chinese government project linking 11 cities into an integrated economic hub. Local government and industry leaders are now collaborating. They aim to move AI projects from the testing phase into widespread public use. The focus is on applied AI. This means creating specific technologies for sectors like transport, healthcare, and city management. Officials believe these tools will make services faster and better connect citizens. This strategic push will be showcased at the upcoming InnoEX 2026 event. The city will present its "Smart Hong Kong Pavilion" to a global audience.
