FOC Fest: A Comedy Club's "Cheeky" Rise to a Full-Day Festival
Comedian Kemah Bob created FOC It Up in 2018 with a simple goal. They wanted a club for femmes of colour—people who were not men. "It really was that simple," Bob says.
What began as a one-hour festival slot has grown. It is now a major club night, a podcast, and a popular show at the Edinburgh Fringe. Bob calls it a "passion project that has got really out of hand." They wanted a space that felt genuinely warm and inclusive.
Now, Bob is launching the club's biggest event: FOC Fest. The name makes them laugh. "It is just so cheeky," they say.
FOC Fest is a full-day event. It will feature workshops, masterclasses, and networking. The day will end with a comedy show at London's Soho Theatre. For Bob, it is the next step in building a different kind of comedy community.
