Kanye West Barred From UK, London Festival Cancelled
British authorities have banned the US rapper Kanye West from entering the United Kingdom. The decision is reportedly linked to his history of making antisemitic comments.
As a direct result, Wireless Festival has been cancelled. The major London music event was scheduled for July and had booked West as a headline performer.
Event organizers announced the cancellation, stating it was due to "an event beyond our control" related to a headlining artist. UK government sources confirmed to news outlets that the Home Office, which controls borders, denied West permission to enter.
The Home Office does not comment on individual cases. However, its policy states it can refuse entry to those whose presence is "not conducive to the public good."
West, who now goes by Ye, has repeatedly made public statements condemned as antisemitic. This includes praise for Adolf Hitler and claims about Jewish control of financial and media institutions. These remarks have led to severed business partnerships and widespread condemnation.
Wireless Festival ticket holders will receive full refunds. No replacement event is currently planned.
